A voice-activated e-storybook co-designed with parents and speech pathologists to prompt young children with speech difficulties to speak.
The why
Speech difficulties is a major issue to many young children in Australia and world wide, and the long waitlist of speech therapy might risk the delay children to fall behind academically. There are 140,000 children in Australia who have sensory/speech disabilities. Early intervention is important for these children to avoid falling behind academically. The problem, however, long waitlist for speech therapy can get up to 12-18months. This means children risk missing their golden age for speech learning at the age of 18-months to 5-year-old.

What we've been up to
Over the past few months, we’ve been inviting parents and their children to join our complimentary KOKO Storybook Pilot Program, where their little ones’ tales are transformed into personalised storybooks. This pilot program aimed to support children aged 3-5 years in improving their speech and building confidence in their reading. Special thanks to the talented illustrators, Ella-Jade Watkins and Riley Ha, for being part of this pilot!

What's next?
We are at the mid-stage prototype phase and are working to expand the app by adding more stories at different difficulty levels, catering to a range of ages. Stay tuned for our updates!
